Unicaja, Zalgiris Kaunas and CSKA Moscow win – Euroleague Group B Fourth week Review – Part 2
Zalgiris Kaunas 81 - Brose Baskets 70
Zalgiris Kaunas shot 57.8 percent (22 for 38) from two-point range while Brose Baskets ended on just 44.6 percent (21 for 47).
Brose Baskets held a 13-9 lead early in the first quarter, capped by Marko Popovic’s shot from downtown. Robertas Javtokas and Sonny Weems shine to put their team ahead by 16-15. Marko Popovic and Milovan Rakovic turned it on for
Brose who took over with a power with 26-19 lead. Tadas Klimavicius hit a jumper at the end of the first period to cut Basket’s lead to seven, 28-21, after 10 minutes of action.
Zalgiris came out more aggressive in the second quarter and tied the game at 43-43. Weems hit a bank shot on the buzzer for 46-43 Kaunas lead at halftime.
Zalgiris stretched their lead to 53-45 early in the third quarter before Predrag Suput racked up four consecutive points to put Brose within 53-49. However, Mantas Kalnietis nailed a three-pointer and then added a basket to keep
the Kaunas way ahead, 58-49. Marcus Slaughter went to the charity line for four times but could not score even a single point for Brose Baskets as Zalgiris held a 60-53 advantage after three.
Brose played a defensive game early in the fourth quarter and got within two points once more, 64-62. Kaunas then went on a 10-2 run to push their lead into double figures, 74-64, and never trailed for rest of the period.
CSKA Moscow 78 - Panathinaikos 76
CSKA Moscow remained unbeaten in Group B of the Turkish Euroleague regular season with a 78-76 overtime victory over Panathinaikos on November 10, 2011 at O.A.C.A. Moscow improved 4-0 and clinched sole possession of first place
in the group.  On the other hand, it was first defeat for the defending Euroleague champions who dropped to 3-1.
Former Euroleague MVP Ramunas Siskauskas led CSKA with 14 points on a 2 for 5 shooting from three-point range while Nenad Krstic recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Viktor Khryapa tallied 11 points, dished
out four assists and blocked three shots while Alexey Shved had 10 points and three rebounds in the victory. Andrei Kirilenko finished with 10 rebounds, eight points, five blocks and three steals for Moscow.
Kostas Kaimakoglou came off the bench with a team-high 13 points and five rebounds for Panathinaikos while Nick Calathes had 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Panathinaikos controlled the first half of the game, leading by as many as 10 points on the way to a 41-32 lead at halftime. CSKA outplayed Panathinaikos 22-16 in the third quarter, pulling within 57-54 heading into the fourth.
Moscow limited the defending champions to 14 points in the last quarter and tied the game at 71, sending it into overtime. Both teams played close game early in the O.T. and knot the game at 75. Ramunas Siskauskas hit a shot from downtown to put Moscow ahead
by three and Nick Calathes sealed the victory on a free throw.
