Unics Kazan, FC Barcelona Regal and Maccabi Electra win: Euroleague Basketball Roundup November 17
Seven games took place in the 2011-12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season on November 17, 2011. Here is a brief review of the games:
Unics Kazan 81 - Union Olimpija 51
Unics Kazan earned their first home victory of the Turkish Euroleague regular season with a by routing Union Olimpija 81-51. Unics have now improved to 3-2 in Group D while Olimpija have dropped to 1-4.
Terrell Lyday led all scorers with a season-high 22 points on a 7 for 8 shooting from two-point range while Mike Wilkinson had 20 points on a 4 for 5 shooting from downtown.
Ratko Varda was the only scorer for Olimpija who reached double figures with 13 points. Unics outshot Olimpija in all categories, especially two-point range, hitting 56.4 percent.
Olimpija came out strong in the first quarter and held a two-point lead after 10 minutes. Unics found their rhythm in the second quarter though and converted the deficit into a 39-34 lead at halftime. Unics Kazan then crushed Olimpija 22-5 in the third quarter, drawing out a 22-point lead and did not look back after that.
FC Barcelona Regal 70 - Galatasaray Medical Park 66
FC Barcelona Regal became the second team in the league to record five victories this season by downing Galatasaray Medical Park 70-66 in a thriller at Abdi Ipekci Sports Hall.  
Regal have so far stayed undefeated in Group D with a 5-0 record. Medical Park, meanwhile, slipped to 2-3 in the standings with third straight loss.
Erazem Lorbek headed the winners with 14 points while Juan Carlos Navarro had 12 points in his quest to become the all-time leading scorer in the Euroleague. Pete Mickeal ended with 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. Luksa Andric led Medical Park with a game-high 17 points and grabbed three rebounds.
Both team scored 19 points each in the first quarter but Barcelona tuned it on in the second period and went ahead by 44-29. Regal pushed their lead to 20 points within the first five minutes of the third quarter and were set for a romp. Galatasaray however were not willing surrender without a fight. They made early inroads in the final quarter and came within a striking distance. However, the lead that the Spaniards had opened prior to the last frame was a little too much to overcome.
Maccabi Electra 69 - Belgacom Spirou 59
Maccabi Electra registered their fourth consecutive victory in Group C with a 69-59 win over Belgacom Spirou at the Nokia Arena. With the win, Maccabi improved to 4-1 while Spirou dropped to 1-4 in the group.
Lior Eliyahu led Maccabi with 15 points and three rebounds while David Blu chipped in 12 points on 4 for 7 shooting from three-point range. Demond Mallet paced Belgacom with a game-best 18 points while Chris Hill added 15 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Maccabi opened the game strongly and carried a 10-point lead, 22-11, into the second quarter. Belgacom came back into the contest in the second quarter and levelled the score at halftime, 35-35. They then capitalized on the momentum and limited Electra to 15 points in the third quarter to go ahead by 54-50 after three.
Electra responded swiftly in the fourth quarter. They scored the first 10 points for a 60-54 edge and then hung tough throughout.
