Uniden,Panasonic or Ge phone??

Question

Hello, I am trying to buy a phone to send to my family, I was wondering which one is the best brand between uniden,panasonic or ge phone.What features are important???...what does it mean: 5.8 ghz??...I need a phone that has a good battery life and it case that the battery runs out,I want to be able to find it!!!

Panasonic is the best out the three plus Panasonic battery life. GE is the worst and are really cheap phones made somewhere that GE sticks their name. No one really knows who will make them. Uniden is good but generally provides the simple phone without much bells and whistles. 5.8 ghz  the freq allocated to phones. it is only better because radio scanners generally pickup popular lower freq and less people own them for 5.8 ghz in which they could listen in on a call

In brief,.... Uniden.

In depth, as a CB radio operator (a relatively hig powered one) my radio never interfered with my telephone. It constantly came over my daughter's phone in her bedroom. It fell to the floor (hardwood) took a chip out of the floor but still worked. Finally killed after 4 years of use, by my granddaughter and spilled orange juice. Uniden (or if other trade names work) Radio Shack phones (they are the same manufacturer) are the only phones I want in my house.  5.8 is the frequency that the handset talks to the base on. The older phones....900 MHz you had to worry about digiatal for security. 2.4 was out of reach of scanners but interferes with wireless computer networks.  5.8 is high and safe and at that frequency distance without using larger outdoor antennas. Cordless phones have rechargable batteries. Average lifetime is year to one and a half years. Micel metal hydride and lithium fight memory and last longer in your phones. But you will still need to replace the battery about 1 1/2 years out but the average lifetime is 8 mos to a year and a half

as a telephone tech I will tell you uniden, and vtech are garbage...

not much experience with GE, but there phones are not much better then those above...

panasonic is THE best brand telephone on the market...

DECT is the way to go to prevent any interference from any other wireless or electronic devices near by.
