Uniden ubcd396t scanner how to in prove audio sound from speaker ?

Hi just got my scanner a few weeks ago I the voice sound that comes out of the speaker is clear but I am getting a hissing noise in the back ground on all transmisions I recive can I fix it througt the settings or is it just the way it is ?. I have ajusted the squech as I ajust it there is a little cursor on top of the bar not shoure what that is or it has some thing to do with the ajustment of the squech. Came any one help please.

  1. One thing that might help a bit is to get an external speaker.  External speakers usually have much better sound than the built in speaker.  I always use one.

  2. What you see is what you get. A quality headphone might make the sound a little better, but that's not the speaker on the radio. The scanner has no sound adjustment other than volume. Squelch will not affect the tone, just how the radio starts receiving and stops receiving.

    There is a yahoo group for the BCD396t. If there are any mods for this issue, the folks there can tell you. Congratulations on your digital scanner. If you haven't checked out "RadioReference.com", you're missing an excellent frequency directory.
