Unidentified Network problem on vista?

Ive had my laptop for about 1 month and for the entire month nothing wrong has ever happened until now.

My laptop is wireless and i have been using wireless internet. Ever since my laptop died for the first time ive been having alot of issues but none that i cant handle. There is only one single problem i cant quite fix the internet i used to connect to is now read as an Unidentified Network i dont understand i have everything set to private i have my firewall and anti virus running but ever since i got that unidentified problem i cant go on the internet anymore! i dont know what to do and i set all of my security settings to let in all internet and wireless connections i have tried moving it as to avoid interference and yet i still cant connect can someone please help me!

i use Window Vista Home Premium or Basic or one of the two

  1. does the router have a password? if so you need to to do a network search or find new wifi if your net is the unidentified one click on it it should ask for the password


  2. Try unplugging the power to your router for 30 seconds, this should reset it. There is also a wireless receiver button on your laptop make sure that is on, mine is a Toshiba and it is on the front of the laptop. Hope this helps, good luck!!
