Uninstall Problem with AVG Antivirus... Need help! "AnotherAvDetectedDlg"?

Question

I have just installed Avast! Antivirus to replace my horrible AVG. When I go to uninstall my AVG from Add/Remove Programs, and the AVG directory itself, an error appears and tell me quote on quote "Installer initialization failed due to the following error:

Undefined error: Internal error. Dialog with id "AnotherAvDetectedDlg" was not found in the setup."

I figured I should try uninstalling in Safe Mode so I know it's not another unneeded program stopping the uninstall, but that did not work. I usually get computer problems fixed myself, but this one is tricky. I also googled it to see if anyone else found the answer, but no luck.

Please give any suggestions, and the first one to fix the problem gets best answer.

Download following updates from AVG

Update AVG - AVI 270.6.5/ 1620

Copy these files to a folder.

Go to AVG menus,

click tools

click update from directory

select location of downloaded file.

press ok

updates will instal halfway

get further updates  from avg centre, to update.

restart

then go to add remove programe & click remove.
