Question:

Uninstalling iTunes: What happens...?

I already know that if I uninstall iTunes, my songs won't get deleted. My question is, what happens to their format?

Will they change into window's media player?

And also the logo right next to the song, how will it change? What will it change to?

  1. It shouldn't change anything about the songs themselves, but if iTunes was set as your default music player, it will probably change that to Windows Media Player or whatever else you have on your system. It shouldn't change the album artwork, either.

  2. They won't change format, they will stay in whatever format they were in with iTunes.  If they are in the iTunes proprietary format, AAC or M4A, then your computer will likely not be able to recognize them as you will no longer have a program that can read them.  If they are in mp3 format, they should work just fine.  You will just have to set Windows Media Player, or whatever program you prefer, as your default media player.  Then, they will have Windows Media Player icons next to them instead of iTunes icons.  If your files are in a format Windows Media Player can't read, then you will have to run them through a converter.  I use this free one: http://www.download.com/Free-Mp3-Wma-Con...

It works well and can convert a bunch of files at once.  If you have any files you purchased from iTunes that have DRM protection on them, you will have to strip the DRM off of the files before you can convert them.  The easiest way to do this is to burn them to an audio CD with iTunes.  Then, with Windows Media Player, rip the files back to your hard drive into mp3 or wma format.  I hope that makes sense.  Good luck!
