My friend asked if she could bring her friend to my bridal shower. I don't know this girl and am not really comfortable. What should I say?

  1. Tell her NO.  That this is a private and very personal event to be shared with close friends and family.

But, she can leave a gift at the door (just kidding).

  2. I agree with wyomugs.

  3. Okay, well first I just want to let you know that it was obviously rude that your friend just asked to invite someone you didn't know. She put you in a corner, hoping that in a desire to not be rude, you'd allow it. Well, don't allow it because it is YOUR bridal shower and she should just feel honored that she's coming.

If you're not comfortable about this other person, then just tell your friend so.

"I don't know this person and am not comfortable with her attending. However, I'd still be honored if you'd attend alone at this event that means a great deal to me."

If she still pushes it, then simply un-invite her, however hard that may be. If she's really your friend, then she should understand.

  4. What are the circumstances? I mean, is this a friend in from out of town that your friend doesn't want to leave at her house, or what? After all, if it's not going to cost you any extra money, isn't it really just one more present for you? Why is it a big deal that this person is there? Will it ruin your event? Probably not.

  5. Say what you just said, "I'm sorry, but I don't know this girl and I'm not really comfortable with it."  A friend should be reasonable and understand.

  6. Tell her exactly that. If she argues, tell her it's YOUR bridal shower, and if she can't comply with your wishes, she dosn't have to come.

  7. Tell her you prefer that she doesn't bring her friend.

  8. If you feel REALLY strongly about it then tell her. But if she is your friend you should allow it. She would not bring anyone untrustworthy around. If she is your friend you should trust her judgement. Who knows, you could make a new friend out of it.

  9. "I'm really sorry, but we aren't able to accomodate any additional guests. I hope you understand, and I hope that you are still planning to attend."

    Have a polite day.
