If I have a Face-up "The Six Samurai Irou" and it is equipped with the Union monster "Spirit of the Six Samurai" and my opponent activates "Lightning Vortex" is the Union monster destroyed only or are both "Spirit of the Six Samurai" and "The Six Samurai Irou" destroyed???

The six samuria monster turns into an equipt spell card which means its no longer a monster so when ur opponent uses lightning vorex the spirit of the six samuria takes the hit not the six samuria(the spirit of the six samuria takes up a spell and trap card zone)

Spirit is destroyed because Union monsters get destroyed in place of the host.

Like "someone" said, Spirit has "If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead." written in its text,

Although most union monsters' effect activates when the host is destroyed by battle.

if spirit is equipped to irou when lightning vortex was activated, only spirit gets destroyed

all union monsters have "A monster can only be equipped with 1 Union monster at a time. If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead" in the ending of the text
