Question:

Unique Ideas for a Charity Organization?

by  |  earlier

I'd like to make a difference in the world, but I'm really not sure where/how to start. I'd like to also take the opportunity to unite my friends for one common goal and stand out as a leader at my school. I think that starting a charity organization would be an ideal way to accomplish this. However, I'd like a unique idea for what sort of organization I should set up. I feel like there are a lot of toy, food and clothing drives, and people who read to the needy, and I'd like a more original approach. Any ideas? It can be based on donating supplies or directly helping people.

Thanks!

  1. Your motivation seems all wrong for a charitable organization

As the head of a charity organization you become a servant to those you serve.

Try some other way to stand out as a leader, and unite your friends. Otherwise a lot of innocent people will get hurt.

    Sincerely.

  2. Robotic limbs for mutilated pets.

  3. First of all, thank you! We need more people in the world like you!

Secondly, don't reinvent the wheel. There are plenty of charities out there who need the kind of leadership and drive you exhibit. Besides, you don't want to spend your time with a lawyer getting your 501(c)3, do you? You want to DO something, right?

I'm not sure how old you are, but look around at your school or place of work and see what charities there are, like Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, or even the neighborhood church. Once under their umbrella, they'll probably let you have free reign to run your initiative. Do you want to collect items for the people recovering in Myanmar? Ask the Red Cross what they need or raise money for your church's donation. Do you want to read to kids? Check at the local library, Rotary Club, or elementary school.

There's a lot to be done out there. If your main goal is to get your friends together on a project, pick something they can easily get behind and champion it. But make sure it appeals to your heart, too, or you'll find yourself running out of steam.

    Good luck!

  4. I truly applaud your efforts in wishing to make a difference! I suggest maybe raising money to support troops deployed. You can adopt individual soldiers or sponsor entire units. The opportunities are endless.
