Unique ideas for homemade cookie cutters (for fondant)?

Im making a birthday cake for my daughter and im working with fondant for the first time...

what are some good things around the house that i can use to cut out different cool shapes to put on the cake?

  1. If you have any square bowls or dishes you can use them with the lids from big juice bottles to make hearts and flower shapes.  Just use one edge of the round lid to make an arch and go around making several joined arches to make flower petals.  Use the corner of a square dish for the point of a heart and one side of a round lid for the rounded parts of the heart.  It's hard to explain without pictures...  If you have any fancy buttons you can also wash them and use them to press patterned impressions into the fondant.
