  1. RAC do a HPI check for £5

They check the history of the vehicle for you.

Including if it`s stolen or ever been in an accident, that sort of stuff.

  2. You should really have checked BEFORE you bought the car, but anyway, you can send a text to TheCheck.co.uk, and they'll send you a text back with any warning signals.  They charge £3 for this service

  3. try

    www.dvla.gov

thats the website for the dvla so any info you should find on there or there will be a link to different sites from there

  4. Hi. I'm 18 and when i was buying my first car i was strongly advised by a friend to get a car history check due to it being a Golf. Having looked on auto trader i'd found a mk iv GT Tdi i liked.

With a car history check only costing £18.95 i thought it was worth it just for peace of mind. To my horror i found out it had been written off due to a split fuel tank. The company i used is called "car check" there website is

    www.carcheck.co.uk

According to the website- "1 in 3 used cars has a hidden history. Around 250,000 cars have been insurance write offs but are back on the road. 400,000 cars are stolen annually. Car Check can provide a full report on the history of any used car."

Unfortunately no sites offer a free car history but for a one off payment of just less than £19 which could potentially save you thousands in repairs it's well worth it.

Hope this is of some help. Joe

  5. Try these -

    http://www.mycarcheck.com

http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPort... - (just click on 'Vehicle Enquiry' and enter the reg no. and the make)

  6. link below will tell you the cars basic history for the last 3 years...eg,milage locations, mot contact numbers..what its failed on mot wise..that sort of stuff...veryhandy...and FREE.

    http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/

also if u contact the dvla direct they can send you the full history, previous owners addresses etc,but that one costs £3.
