  1. Well this is unique Sydney knowledge, you see the borders go all around the outside,  this gives you Macedonia Macedonia, this is different from having the borders in the middle where you get divided Macedonia.

  2. The same question asked 3 times!!!

    Why? Does the asker expect different answers?

    Macedonia is a geographic region that its border was different during the centuries! The first Macedonia was the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon which gave the Greek name to the region!

      Macedonia is one of the biggest regions of Greece. It is situated in the north part of Greece and it borders 3 Balkan states.

    The ancient Macedonia was a Greek kingdom and it was roughly the same size as the Modern Greek region of Macedonia. From the Greek state of Macedonia Alexander started his epic campaign of spreading the Greek culture and the Greek civilization all over the known word. His campaign was so successful that for nearly 300 years Greek (Hellenistic) Kingdoms controlled Asia Minor, Middle East, Egypt and even the north part of India.

      There is also a state that emerged from Yugoslavia and it is officially recognized by UN as FYROM meaning Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. That country has no relation with ancient (or modern) Greek Macedonia but it is instead a Slavic/Albanian country. {The 1/3 of the population is Slav-Macedonians (of Bulgarian origin) and the 2/3 is Albanian/Macedonians}

    {The government of FYROM (Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia) has clearly stated that they are not linked to Greek Macedonia and Alexander the Great and is still doing a great effort to stop the few fanatics from compromising the stability of the new state.

    The first President of FYROM (Slavic/Albanian- Macedonia), Kiro Gligorov said: “We are Slavs who came to this area in the sixth century ... we are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians" (Foreign Information Service Daily Report, Eastern Europe, February 26, 1992, p. 35). Also, Mr Gligorov declared: "We are Macedonians but we are Slav Macedonians. That's who we are! We have no connection to Alexander the Greek and his Macedonia… Our ancestors came here in the 5th and 6th century" (Toronto Star, March 15, 1992).

    Also the Slav/Albanian Macedonia is negotiating with Greece (under the UN authority) for an international name that will not insult the Greeks and will not have any claim against Greek Macedonia.

    (The name that the country is using for itself is actually Makedonija but they are using internationally the Greek name Macedonia and a lot tend to confuse the Slavic/Albanian state with Greek Macedonia).}

    Hope I’ve helped!

  3. Macedonia is not divided. There is Greek-Macedonia and a republic of Macedonia which is Slavic. No relation between the two states!

  4. The part of the southern Balkan Peninsula traditionally known as Macedonia is bounded to the south by th Aegean Sea and the Aliakmon River; to the west by Lakes Prespa and Ohrid, the watershed west of the Crni Drim River, and the Shar Mountains; and to the north by the mountains of the Skopska Crna Gora and the watershed between the Morava and Vardar basins. The Pirin Mountains mark its eastern edge. Since 1913 this geographic and historical region has been divided between Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria, and only some 40 percent of its area is occupied by the independent state, MACEDONIA.
