United Sports Club retain Lalkamal Bhowmick despite poor financial conditions - I-League news
Indian I-League side, United Sports Club, have found themselves under immense financial pressure of late but have managed to retain some of their bigger names. The problem started right at the end of the 2010/11 season that also prompted club’s main sponsor,
Chirag Computers, to part ways with the club. United ensured that the club overcame the sponsorship issue and will recruit new faces at the club for the upcoming 2011/12 season.
One of the club’s top players, Lalkamal Bhowmick, threatened to leave the outfit at the end of the last season. The officials made untiring efforts in order to keep the midfielder at the Salt Lake Stadium and the player has agreed terms with the club. Bhowmick
played an important role last season, creating a number of chances for his forward line and picked no less than six Man of the match awards in just 12 the appearances.
The 24-year-old has made one international appearance for the Indian side since making his debut in 2008. The midfielder was previously a part of the Indian U20 line-up and made 22 appearances, netting in four goals during the process. The player admitted
about the wilting ties with the club due to weakening financial conditions but confirmed that the matter has been resolved between the two parties.

Mr. Bhattacharya also confirmed that the club are planning to change their home ground from Kolkata to Siliguri for the 2011/12 campaign. He also told that the club has been working hard to complete the signing of Viva Kerala defender, Bello Rassaq.
