  1. You'll need a college degree, you'll need to be a commissioned officer in the USAF, you'll need a pilot slot to get into SUPT, you'll need to graduate from SUPT, a KC-10 will have to be available in your class drop, you'll have to rank well enough to achieve the KC-10, you'll have to get through RTU on the KC-10.

Based on your question, I don't think you'll have a problem.

  2. Try Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach, Florida & Prescott, Arizona).

  3. The requirements to fly the KC-10 are exactly the same as any other USAF aircraft.  Check with the ROTC Detachment at a nearby university for the exact physical and academic requirements.

You don't need an Aviation degree to fly in the USAF.  You merely need a 4 year degree.  In some ways, the USAF prefers you don't have a lot of civilian time because there are some things specific to the way the USAF teaches that are different from what you learn in civilian flying.  Statistically, someone with a technical degree such as engineering, math, etc. have a better chance of getting through pilot training, but there are plenty of us out there that have a history degree.

If you're interested in the Reserves, you need to call either the unit at Travis AFB or McGuire AFB as these are the only 2 KC-10 Reserve bases.  If you're interested in the C-17, there are more bases to choose from - McGuire, McChord, Charleston, Hickam, Jackson MS and Elmendorf, there may be another one or two out there that I'm missing.  The Reserves hire you for a specific airframe and base.  The active duty does not.  You may end up flying a fighter or a C-130.  It's all based on your class rank and the needs of the USAF when you finish UPT.

    Hope this helps.

  4. The KC-10 will still be around.  KC-135's are still flying 40 years on.

Get you degree in aeronautics if you can.  That is a highly preferred degree in the USAF.

  5. By the time you get your degree and get thru pilot training, the KC10 may be gone.
