United States Fencing Association reveals 2011 Cadet and Junior world athletes
The United States Fencing Association declared the names of 32 athletes who will participating members of Team USA in the 2011 Junior and Cadet World Championships that are going to be held on 29 March at King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center, Dead Sea.
The USA team included 17 novices and 15 athletes from the previous year’s world teams of U20 Juniors and U17 Cadets. The veteran athletes were selected for their fabulous performance and top rankings at the Junior World Championships. Those 15 veterans included
seven medalists who also showed excellent fencing at last year’s Baku, Azerbaijan event.
The athletes who will participate in both team and individual events are as follow.
Junior Saber for Men
Will Spear from Wyantskill, New York will take part in the Team event only. Evan Prochniak from Hudson, New York, Rhys Douglas from Apache Junction, Arizona and Sean Buckley from Secaucus, New Jersey will play in both events.
Junior Epee for Men
Michael Raynis from Chatsworth California, Edward Kelley from San Antonio from Texas and James Kaull from Washington, Colombia will play in both Individual and Team events. Alexndar Edeib from Burke Virginia will only compete in Team event.
Junior Foil for Men
Brian Kaneshige from Maplewood, New Jersey will only compete in Team event and Alexander Massialas from San Francisco, California, David Willette from Lafayette, California and Race Imboden from Brooklyn, New York will cover both Team and Individual Foil.
Junior Saber for Women
Celina Merza of Wayne, New Jersey is selected to compete in the Team event only. Lian Osier (Battle Ground, Washington, Francesca Russo Wayne, New Jersey and Skyla Powers Birmingham, Alabama will fence in both events.
Junior Epee for Women
Jessie Radanovich from Tollhouse, California will compete in just the Team event, where as her other companions, Katharine Holmes of Washington, Colombia and Audrey Abend of New York City, will fence in both.
Junior Foil for Women
Jacqueline Dubrovich, Riverdale, New Jersey will only compete in Team event. Lee Kiefer from Lexington, Kentucky, Margaret Lu from Greenwich, Connecticut and Nzingha Prescod from Brooklyn, New York are selected for both Individual and Team
All of cadet fencers will compete in both Individual and Team events.
Cadet Saber for Men
Geoffrey Loss Orange Coast, California, Eli Dershwitz from Sherborn, Massachusetts and Peter Pak from Roslyn New York are selected for Cadet Sabre.
Cadet Epee for Men
Cadet Epee team selected consists of Alexander Eldeib from Burke, Virginia Raymond Schorr from Los Angeles, California and Brian Ro from Scarsdale, New York.
Cadet Foil for Men
Cadets announced for Men’s Foil are Nobuo Bravo and Alexander Massialas from San Francisco, California and Jerry Chang from Mountain View, California.
Cadet Saber for Women
Skyla Powers Decatur, Georgia, Francesca Russo from Wayne, New Jersey and Margaret McDonald from Atlanta, Georgia will fence for Cadet Sabre.
Cadet Epee for Women

USA fencing announced Anna Van Brummen from Houston, Texas, Jessie Radanovich from Tollhouse, California and Audrey Abend from New York City as a member of Cadet Women’s Epee.
Cadet Foil for Women
Lee Kiefer from Lexington, Kentucky, Jacqueline Dubrovich from Riverdale, New Jersey and Margaret Lu Greenwich, Connecticut will compete for both events.
