United States Hockey League looking to bring in new rules for the safety of the players
Fighting becomes cause of many injuries for the players and they suffer concussions so United States Hockey League, which is a junior ice hockey league, has brought in new rules for the safety of the players and so that they do not get injuries while fighting.
They are not only looking to control fighting but also make sure that there is no dangerous play and players wear equipments which are good enough to safeguard them.
It was announced by commissioner of the game, Skip Prince who told about it and further cleared all the things which were in the minds of people.
The program is being called Pilot Program and their team has done a lot of research to make sure that it works properly and to know the reasons which become cause of injuries of players.
According to Prince, they heard about anti-fighting initiatives last year and they were hearing against fighting because it becomes cause of players getting injured so it made them think over it. This is the reason that did all the team work and research
to figure it, as he said while talking to NHL.com,
"It actually started a year and a half ago when we began hearing about all the anti-fighting initiatives and people were saying that fighting was the cause of so many injuries. We weren't defensive about it, but I went back and we did exhaustive research
with our trainers to try and figure out what was going on."
Now they would be looking to bring in five rules which would make the game safer as they would bring in new regulations for the governing of dangerous play, commissioner would keep a check on discipline and review, discussions with players and coaches on
how to improve play, improving the equipment and ways of tracking injuries.
Prince wishes that he could focus on one of them completely but it was difficult, as he said,
"I wish we could prioritize them so we can attend to them one at a time, but it seemed to us that the minute we got involved and start imposing regulations and review of enforcement, you need to begin reviewing them”.
