  1. It's all up to you. what your temperment?.If you've got a temper.,leave it at home.Keep your mouth shut, don't volunteer for anything. The first six to eight weeks you will think you are in h**l.After that you will get the old spree de corp.Once a marine, alway a marine. good luck.

  2. You need to expect to run like you wouldn't believe, every single day.  You should also work on your chin-ups.  As far as your daily routine goes, that depends on your path as a 5800. Your recruiter can promise you the 5800 field, which is Military Police AND Corrections.  The corrections MOS is a relatively small one, with only a handful of brigs in the Corps.  Not to mention, there is talk of shutting down the corrections MOS as well as PMO (Base MPs).  Anyway, as a 5811 you can potentially become a Field MP (doing fun stuff in Iraq), or become a K9 handler if you're good enough.  Both of which are great jobs.  You need to be aware of the fact that while your recruiter CAN promise you the 5800 MOS, you could be thrown into the 5811 field (PMO) or be a 5831 (a corrections MP).  5831s do not deploy very often, if at all, since there are always going to be brigs in America that the Corps needs run regardless of what we've got going on elsewhere.   As I've mentioned, the Marine Corps is trying to shut down the 5800 MOS for civilians to run (along with Admin and the cooks, if you'd care to know), so you need to be aware that sometime during your enlistment you may be placed elsewhere if and when the MOS is closed. Either way, many (definitely not all) Marines will hate you and think of you as a blue falcon since it is your job to enforce the rules and regulations of the UCMJ.  You need to be ready to arrest your friends and enforce our laws in a firm, fair, and impartial manner.  A Marine on duty has no friends. Remember to run as much as possible, as fast and as far as you can, and for the love of God STAY HYDRATED by drinking plenty of water.  I drink nearly a gallon every day.  Good luck, keep your head up and stay focused.

  3. Not in the Mariners but I am in the military.  Life is a lot different but not bad.  its a different expierence expect not to have much of a socail personal life but the flipped side is that you will meet people and have a really cool bond with them like almost better then brothers/sisters would have.  i love the experience as well
