United States claims Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay crown: Day two – 2011 World University Games
Day two of the 2011 World University Games got-off to a riveting start with the wonderful splash of US swimmers in the long course meet in Shenzhen, China, on Monday, August 15.
The final session of the meet held the Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay event, in which United States’ squad of James Feigen, Timothy Phillips, Kohlton Norys and Robert Savulich secured the golden crown by hitting the finishing wall in a time of 3 minutes and
15.84 seconds. After winning the gold medal in the final meet, the American swimmers were really contented and pleased with their collective splash.
In the corresponding race, the Brazilian quartet took home the silver title on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 3 minutes and 17.30 seconds. The Brazilian team consisted of Marcos Macedo, Marcelo Chierighini, Henrique Martins and Nicolas Oliveira.
The French group of four swimmers earned the bronze medal of the meet by posting an immaculate time of 3 minutes and 18.78 seconds. Clement Lefert, Guillaume Strohmeyer, Joris Hustache and Lorys Bourelly represented the French team in the respective meet.
In the meantime, the Italian squad of Andrea Rolla, Luca Leonardi, Lucio Spadaro and Nicola Cassio hit the finishing wall in 3 minutes and 19.59 seconds to finish fourth. Then, the Australian quartet of Luke Kerswell, Nicholas Ffrost, Kristopher Taylor and
Mitchell Dixon wound up fifth as they ended their swim and posted an impressive time of 3 minutes and 19.70 seconds. The Canadian team earned sixth place honours in a time of 3 minutes and 20.99 seconds.
Earlier, Michael Klueh of United States of America took home Men’s 800m freestyle crown of the championship by posting a stunning time of 7 minutes and 52.31 seconds. Meanwhile, Rocco Potenza of Italy secured silver medal on the podium by submitting a scintillating
time of 7 minutes and 53.45 seconds. Yohsuke Miyamoto of Japan snagged the bronze title of the respective meet, as he ended his swim and posted an impressive time of 7 minutes and 56.29 seconds.
