United States conquers Men’s 4*100m Medley Relay – London Olympic Games
The relay team of United States of America conquered the qualifying rounds of the Men’s 4*100m Medley Relay on day seven of the swimming events at the 2012 London Olympic Games in London Aquatics Centre on Friday, August 3.
The American team constituted scintillating forms of Nick Thoman, Eric Shanteau, Tyler McGill and Cullen Jones, who collectively clocked a fastest qualification time to enter the playoff of the discipline.
With their unstoppable efforts, the American team remained full body length ahead of their following team, as they clocked a time of 3 minutes and 32.65 seconds.
They were followed by relay team of Great Britain that remained 0.79 seconds behind and made their way into the final round in a second fastest time of 3 minutes and 33.44 seconds.
The British squad was chased by Japanese team, which remained only 0.20 seconds slower from their former finisher and emerged on the finishing blockade as third fastest team with an effort of 3 minutes and 33.64 seconds.
Fourth finest qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Australian squad that stayed only 0.09 seconds slower and tapped the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 33.73 seconds.
The Australian team was chased by relay squad of Netherlands, which ended their race in fifth best place by producing a time of 3 minutes and 33.78 seconds.
On the other hand, Women’s 4*100m Medley Relay was overpowered by the Australian squad, which showed no mercy to their opponents and tapped the wall for first position.
The dominating team remained in a considerable lead over their strongest opponent and touched the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 55.42 seconds.
They were followed by Japanese squad, which remained almost 2.40 seconds slower and reported a time of 3 minutes and 57.87 seconds.
Third finest spot was secured by Denmark, whose swimmers remained half body length behind and posted 3 minutes and 58.35 seconds while USA finished fourth in the heats with a qualification time of 3 minutes and 58.88 seconds.
In addition, the playoffs of both disciplines will take place in the evening session on August 4.
