United States wins Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay crown: Day three – 2011 World University Games
Day three of the 2011 World University Games got-off to a flying start with the immaculate splash of United States' swimmers in Shenzhen, China, on Tuesday, August 16. The session of the meet held the Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay final.
In the corresponding meet, United States’ team of Michael Klueh, Daxon Hill, Matthew Bartlett and Matthew Lean Mc took home the gold medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 7 minutes and 13.54 seconds. Japan’s squad of Sho Sotodate, Yuya Horihata,
Yuma Kosaka and Sho Uchida snared silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 7 minutes and 14.66 seconds.
Meanwhile, Australia’s team of David Mckeon, Mitchell Dixon, Kristopher Taylor and Nicholas Ffrost picked bronze title on the podium by posting a matchless time of 7 minutes and 17.58 seconds.
In the meantime, South Africa’s group of four including Jean Basson, Daniel Sebastien Rousseau, Heerden Herman and James Leith Shankland was placed fourth in a time of 7 minutes and 19.75 seconds. On the other hand, Italy’s squad of Michele Berardi, Nicola
Cassio, Cesare Sciocchetti and Filippo Ton rounded out the top five in a time of 7 minutes and 20.86 seconds.
France was placed sixth in a time of 7 minutes and 24.18 seconds, while Russia finished seventh in 7 minutes and 25.01 seconds. Canada earned eighth spot after they ended their swim in a time of 7 minutes and 27.76 seconds.
Earlier, James Feigen secured the gold medal in the Men’s 100m freestyle meet with a winning time of 49.26 seconds. Norbert Trandafir of Romania was placed second on the podium by posting a time of 49.41 seconds, while Shinri Shioura of Japan finished third
in a time of 49.50 seconds.
The Men’s 100m breast-stroke title was clinched by Giedrius Titenis of Lithuania with an impressive time of 1 minute and 00.39 seconds. Glenn Snyders of New Zealand finished second on the podium by submitting a time of 1 minute and 00.71 seconds, whereas,
Joao Junior Gomes of Brazil was placed third in a time of 1 minute and 00.78 seconds.
