United States wins Women’s 400m medley relay title: 2011 Pan American Games
The final day session of the 2011 Pan American Games closed with the scintillating swimming efforts of US athletes in the medley relay, in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Friday, October 22. The session of the meet conducted Women’s 400m medley relay final heat.
USA’s swimming team was up against their strongest rivals, Canada and Brazil in the respective meet. United States’ squad including Rachel Bootsma, Annie Chandler, Claire Donahue and Amanda Kendall hit the finishing wall in a thrilling time of 4 minutes
and 01.00 seconds to claim Women’s 400m medley relay title. More importantly, US swimming team thrashed down their previous best meet record of 4 minutes and 04.52 seconds, set back in the preliminary heats.
Meanwhile, Canadian team of Gabrielle Soucisse, Ashley McGregor, Erin Miller and Jennifer Beckberger went on to clinch the silver medal on the podium by hitting the finishing wall in a mouth shattering time of 4 minutes and 07.04 seconds. In addition, Brazil’s
group of four swimmers including Fabiola Molina, Tatiane Sakemi, Daynara De Paula and Tatiana Barbosa took home the bronze medal by posting a winning time of 4 minutes and 07.12 seconds.
The session of the meet produced some other thrilling results, as Mexico’s swimming team secured fourth place honours by powering the finishing wall in a time of 4 minutes and 09.41 seconds. Moreover, Argentina picked fifth spot in a time of 4 minutes and
16.18 seconds, whereas, Bahamas earned sixth place honours by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 16.97 seconds.
Furthermore, Venezuela performed well in the respective race and captured seventh position with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 18.76 seconds. Last, but not the least, the eighth spot went to Puerto Rico in a time of 4 minutes and 23.16 seconds. The
excellent swimming performances of all three swimming nations including USA, Canada and Brazil impressed the arena and the winning teams received their medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
The 2011 Pan American Games is an excellent step towards the preparation for the upcoming campaign of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
