Both continental giants are set to lock horns for one of Brazil’s most talented defenders.
In this day and age, the role of defenders has evolved to such an extent that no longer are they only supposed to prevent the opposition from scoring, but also have to push on with their teammates as well.
The art of passing around the ball carefully and picking out teammates on the other side of the field is not something which everyone can boast about. And while there is the usual gung-ho style of players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903, more sensible
stalwarts such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 is what managers often look for.
However given the limited quantities in which these skilled centre-backs are available in, they command premium prices. Either that or a club can scout them out.
English Premier League giants Manchester United are perhaps aware of almost all players that boast world-class abilities and their mind has been turned by a certain Brazilian known as Dede.
The 23-year-old is seen as one of his Nation’s brightest young stars and is expected to be regular with the Selecao when they kick-off their World Cup 2014 in their own backyard.
United are notoriously famous for snapping up potential world-beaters and while Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 and Dede in the Old Trafford backline, Benfica have other plans.
The Reds currently have the best centre-backs of the League in Luisao and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Garay-c13071, but while Garay has a long and possibly illustrious career ahead of him, his fellow South American  is bound to hang up his boots sooner rather than later.
Coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dede-c10736 as Luisao’s like-for-like replacement and will be able to offer him a the prospect of featuring week-in, week-out, something which United obviously can’t do due to the plethora of defensive options they have at their disposal.
However the Red Devils are superior to their Portuguese counterparts financially and will be able to win any bidding war outright. But nonetheless it will be up to Dede to decide whether he wants to play at the highest stage as a fringe player or as a regular
starter a rung below.
