Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-Vieira-c29316 believed that the match officials get intimidated at Old Trafford and tend to give decisions in favour of Manchester United.
His comments came following the Red Devils 1-0 win against Fulham at Old Trafford, in which the visitors were denied a penalty when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282. The win allowed the Red Devils to open up a three point lead over Manchester
City.
Vieira, who is Manchester City’s football development executive, viewed his side as the best Premier League team at the moment and lamented a few refereeing decisions that went against the club.
"This is our moment. Since the start of the season we've been the best team and played the best football.” he said.
He expressed his belief that teams like United, Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 tend to get the decisions in their favour during their home games.
"I think when you go to United, [Real] Madrid, Barcelona, or [AC] Milan, when the referees referee these kind of games, it's always difficult to go against these kind of teams.”
The two Manchester clubs had a verbal spat earlier when Vieira termed the return of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez
as ‘desperate’.
However, Vieira admitted that with the Red devils three points adrift of their local rivals, they stand as favourites to win the league title this season.
"When you are first, you have the advantage, they are favourites,"
The 35 year old also welcomed the return of Tevez to City and believed that he can play an important part in the club’s bid for a maiden Premier League title. He was glad that the Argentine was able to mend his relations with his manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323
by apologizing.
"We're glad Carlos is back. The quality of these kind of players will be really important at this stage of the season,"
Vieira urged his side to remain focused as anything is still possible with eight more games to play.
Currently, United have 73 points and City 70, with both the teams having played 30 matches. However, City enjoys a better goal difference than the Red Devils. Earlier in October, the Citizens thrashed the Red Devils 6-1 at Old Trafford which was United’s
worst home defeat ever. But the side from Old Trafford leapfrogged their neighbours in the table after City were beaten 1-0 by Swansea.
The two teams will clash again on 30th April at the Etihad Stadium.
