The Red Devils have agreed to let General Motors become their major sponsors starting from the 2014/15 season.
Due to their undying legions of fans and a global appeal, Manchester United are a commercial dream, a heaven for companies who want to market themselves all over the world.
While the trend of having sponsors is not a new one, the English Premier League giants have had only five different logos on their jersey during their illustrious 134 year history.
Starting with Sharp, Vodafone, AIG and now Aon, the club have enjoyed a luxury of wealth due to their cash-rich deals and look set to make history once more.
Although they negotiated one of the biggest deals in history when they allowed Aon to become their primary sponsor, they have been since overcome by the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Bayern Munich, who have been quite busy in the marketing department.
United are currently earning around £20 million per year but after confirming their new partnership with General Motors, it is expected that they will overtake the Catalans, who get around £25 million each season from the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 Foundation.
Obviously the money will allow the Reds to become even more competitive in the transfer market, so it was a much welcomed move by the Old Trafford hierarchy.
"This is a fantastic, long-term deal for the Club. We have been partners with Chevrolet for only six weeks, but already they have produced some fantastic ideas that will benefit both the partnership and our 659 million followers around the world.”
"They are a key partner on our current tour and I know they have enjoyed experiencing the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926, and Europe. This commitment to United and its fans will bring real benefits
to everyone who cares about the club,” said Commercial Director Richard Arnold.
The 19-time English champions have yet again cashed on their huge brand power; which is one of the main reasons behind them dominating proceedings both on and off the pitch every year.
And now with more cash in their accounts, they are likely to chase their top targets without having to worry about the finances.
