I believe the unit is called a Therm.

I don't recall specifically, but I think it might be either 1,000 or 10,000 Btu's (British Thermal Units).

the unit of heat is Btu. probably you are talking about large quantity of heat which they have a prefixed Tera (T)

1 TBtu = 10 ^ 12 Btu

for comparing the fuel consumption in residential we used $ / MBtu and for gas consumption it is $5.24 / MBtu.

1 MBtu = 10 ^ 6 Btu
