Unity Sand or Candle?

Question

I like the unity candle...but I kinda want something different...

I have seen pictures of the unity sand, but I've never seen anyone do it...

Anyone seen either one or have a preference???

Me and my fiance really love the unity sand but because I am having my ceremony in a catholic church I didnt feel sand went great with the church theme. So me and my fiance are planning on using the candle however do the unity sand that night, on our honeymoon or our one year anniversary and keep it as a memory of our love.

Just a fair warning - the candles can and WILL blow out after you light it.  Ours went out right in the middle of the song we played during the unity candle part of our ceremony.  But it struck me as funny, not a disaster.  You can tell we were trying not to laugh in our video.

I have seen both done and prefer the unity candle to the sand.  I can honestly say that more people do the unity candle.  I have only seen ONE go out in all the weddings I have attended.  I am getting married in two weeks and we opted to have neither.  Best wishes you and Congratulations!

my cousin did the sand it was ok if you dont get the cheesy colored sand or anything.. also my friend and her husband had a nice idea where the had a wooden box with a latch and in it they put their fav. wine and during the wedding they each wrote a letter to one another and put them in the box and sealed it together.. it was sweet! they will open it on their 10 yr aniv. and read their letters!  different!

I like the sand...keep it simple. Don't strech it out too much.

I would think you need colored sand...there isn't a point if it's all one color.
