Universal Grammar or the theory of "linguistic nativism"?

Do you agree with Chomsky's theory that all languages share a same set of grammar principles innate to Mankind? Tell me why or why not.

  1. What matter if I agree? This theory has wide empirical support from disciplines as far removed from each other as neurology and evolutionary biology. Linguists are now plotting the natural selection of words now.

    Science is not about agreement, but evidence. A lesson not inculcated well in social science.


  2. ...I saw your question and must say, I almost moved over it because I'm not educated in the scientific study of linguistics...but because the question intrigued me, I jumped into some web sites and found some interesting reading...I'm still not qualified to answer, but just thought this was interesting reading...especially the section of Pidgin languages that often springs up between groups that don't share a common language but "make one up" as a way to communicate with one another...cool beans, I thought, especially since Pidgin languages seem to also follow a universal grammar...hummmm?
