I am going to Universal this week for 10 days and staying at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. Has anyone been there that's can give me some tips on places to eat, attractions, entertainment outside the park, or anything else?

p.s. how is the hotel?

Thanks!

  1. OMG...I was there last year for a week and it was great! When you arrive, the staff is so helpful and friendly and while you're waiting to check in, there's a trio that sings and plays instruments. The rooms are immaculate and there are two swimming areas and a spa. Anyway, as far as places to eat, there are little eateries on the premises and descent shopping. If I'm not mistaken there is a night designated for a pool movie where you can sit in the main pool and watch whatever movie they play. Also, on certain nights, there is a musical performance with lights and everything near the lake that's on the property. It's nice. For attractions, of course there is the parks, but the benefits are great. For example: you have unlimited access to all the rides in the fast lanes with your hotel key (that is your pass). If you buy any souvenirs from the stores at any universal theme park, they can send those souvenirs to the hotel you're staying at and directly to your hotel door the next morning so you won't have to carry all those things around. And city walk is nice for entertainment. Whether it be dancing or sitting at the bar or shopping. You can also take the ferry to the parks or enjoy the scenery by walking or having someone on bikes take you to save gas on your car. Take plenty of pictures and have an awesome time! Also, as far as entertainment outside the parks, you have international drive where there are plenty of shops and restaurants along the strip and even a wet n wild water park (which is also apart of the universal resort properties, but you would have to buy a separate ticket to enjoy). There's old town, which is a mini amusement park with sky coasters and human slingshot rides and little shops to enjoy. That's all I can think of.
