Question:

Universal Studios Orlando?

We are going to Disney World in 2 weeks and cannot decide if it's worth it to go to Universal. My dilemma is that my kids (ages 12 and 7) aren't into "thrill rides" and like the lower-key rides. They'd never get on those large roller coasters. Is there lots to do for them at Universal or should we just stick with Disney World and the water parks? Thanks!!!

  1. Stick with WDW and the water parks.  Your kids won't get much of anything (if anything) from Universal.  The attractions are geared toward the very young or teens and up.  Besides, if you go to WDW and stay on property or a hotel that has a shuttle bus you won't have to rent a car.  It's a big hassle trying to get to Universal from WDW or any of the resorts around it.

  2. The kids would love Universal! There are not many big thrill rides there, those are at Islands of Adventure. There are more shows and entertainment rides at Universal Studios. It's better for relaxing and enjoying the special effects than it is for crazy rides. If you go, make sure to check out the Horror Make Up show and Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue. Going to Universal is also a great way to relax and enjoy your vacation a little more after all the stress of Disney World.

  3. for the little kids i would go to disney world

but that is just my opinion i think you should go to disney world

  4. I would definitely recommend Universal, and also next door to Universal is Islands of Adventure, both are worth it. We took my son when he was 9 and he LOVED it and he's not into the thrill rides either. We also did some of Disney too.

  5. Universal Studios is very cool and u should take them there because all of the rides there aren't only scary ones.  There are many other rides that aren't roller coasters that they would probably like.

  6. Your 12 year old may like the rides at Universal Studios. However, I don't know if your 7 year old will understand a lot of it.

Universal Studios Orlando is actually 2 parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Islands of Adventure is the park with all the coasters, while Universal has theme based rides, namely movies. If you want to know whether it would be worth it to go depends on how much your family likes movies.

If your family is really into movies, then everyone should enjoy Universal. But it probably be a waste of time to go to Islands of Adventure until your kids are older or get into thrill rides.

If neither of these parks seem to apply to your family, don't go. You'd be much better off going to Disney/MGM Studios.

P.S. Here is a best kept secret for your family. Ask a cast member if you can ride in the front of the monerail. Few people know that you can. There is just a 4 person limit. Also, buy a "Hidden Mickey" scavenger hunt book at one of the shops. This will make your trip that much more magical.
