I am planning to either go to knotts berry farm or universal studios in hollywood on August 17, but dont know which one to pick

You get a better bang for your money at Knott's berry farm. It's nothing like Disneyland....it's much better.

most definitely Universal, Knotts is just another Disneyland..Universal has much more to do...and the rides are amazing, I highly recommend the Back to the future ride, and also do the Jurassic park Last, as you will get soaking wet...hehehe...its great!!!
