University Kuala Lumpur edge past Yayasan Negeri Sembilan in MHL: 4-3 – Hockey Update
After a tough competition, the University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) team has emerged victorious over Yayasan Negeri Sembilan (YNS) 4-3 in the Premier Division match of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) that was contested at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit
Jalil, Malaysia.
It was a best show presented by UniKL who failed to display their real worth in the opening game and could only draw the match against the University of Technology Mara (UiTM) at one-each. After winning the game by a single goal, the UniKL team grabbed third
place on the point-chart. However, they will have to deliver an extra-ordinary performance in the coming games in order to hold back their position.
After making a slow start, the UniKL team started a fast paced game and accomplished back-to-back attacks in search of the maiden-goal. With nine minutes into the game, Muhammad Taufik Abdul Hamid opened the scoring through a brilliant drag flicking shot.
Nasir Ahmed, the custodian from YNS failed to stop the ball and conceded the first goal. However, the lead would not last for long, as the opposing strikers carried out consecutive strikes in response of the first goal and made the score even in the 14th
minute of the mark. Ihsan Ullah Khan, the player from Pakistan sent a smashing shot at the roof of the cage to put YNS in the equal line at 1-1.
In the later time, the UniKL side received a couple of short corners but failed to convert these into successful scores. Nasir Ahmed was brilliant enough to deny the attacks. Amazingly, Aamir Shahzad of YNS made a brilliant shot and took a one goal lead
in the 25th minute of the mark. However, the UniKL team was not ready to give up and continued their fast paced game. In the 28th minute, Dedy Ariyadi Jumaidi managed to take the ball at the top of the circle and slammed a powerful shot
into the goal to tie the knots at 2-2.
Mohammad Ramadan Rosli marked another goal in the 31st minute of the game and established a lead for UniKL before going into the second half. Ihsan Ullah Khan first attempted to convert a short corner but no avail. However, the players from UiTM
were also not ready to give up, as Muhammad Hafiz Zakaria received a rebound chance, volleyed a powerful shot into the goal in the 38th minute and levelled the score.
After missing a few efforts, Mohammad Sabri Muhammad showed dazzling performance and scored a goal on deflection made by Taufik. The UiTM goal-keeper failed to stop the ball and lost the game 4-3.
