University of California, Irvine defeats University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team on Saturday
University of Hawaii was up against the University of California, Irvine on Saturday.
The match that took place between the two teams was one that entertained the spectators with its thrilling display of skill and prowess. Despite the fact that Hawaii was not able to secure a win in any set of the game and fell to UCI in three back-to-back
sets, they did not go down without giving UCI a good challenge.
Each set of the match was closely contested by both the teams. By the time that the game reached its close and UCI was celebrating its well-earned victory, the scoreboard showed the following set scores, 28-26, 30-28, 26-21.
The recent loss that the Warriors have suffered against the Anteaters has brought their number of losses in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matches to a figure of 13. They have been undergone these defeats after bagging themselves a total of 15 victories
in conference play.
As opposed to the MPSF record of the Warriors, the Anteaters have fared much better. They have been able to earn a total of 19 wins for themselves. In comparison, the number of times that the Anteaters have suffered a defeat total to be 11.
The start of the first set of the match set the tone for the rest of the play between the two teams. Both the Warriors and the Anteaters started off with their best in order to gain dominance at the court. For most part of the game, no one was sure where
the tables would turn. Neither the Anteaters nor the Warriors kept the lead for a long period of time.
However, as the match reached its final stages, Hawaii was able to have set points twice but the Anteaters were the ones that prevailed and bagged the opening set of the game at 28-26.
The second set of the match was just as competitive as the first one. Both the Warriors and the Anteaters were playing at their best to get the advantage. As in the previous set of the game, Hawaii was able to reach set points in the second as well. This
time around, they reached set point a total of four times unfortunately for Hawaii however, they failed to seal the deal each time and the second set was secured by the Anteaters as well.
Playing with a two set deficit, the Warriors were under a lot of pressure to win if they wanted any chance in the match. However, the anteaters did not allow the Warriors the opportunity and took the third set of the game at 26-21.
Interestingly, the Warriors have not been able to scrap a win against the Anteaters in the past eight games that both the teams have contested against each other.
