University of Melbourne wins Women’s 4x50m freestyle relay title – 2011 Australian University Games
University of Melbourne athletes, Jessica Morrison, Grace Loh, Nicolette Lyttle and Marieke Guehrer impressed the arena on day three of the 2011 Australian University Games, in Gold Coast, on Thursday, September 29. The session of the meet conducted the
Women’s 4x50m freestyle relay event.
In the corresponding race, University of Melbourne’s squad hit the finishing wall in 1 minute and 49.18 seconds to win the 4x50m freestyle relay title on the podium.
Meanwhile, Queensland University of Technology’s team, Amy Cullen, Hannah Mullen, Rebecca Harry and Madeleine Van won silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 1 minute and 53.13 seconds.
In the corresponding swim, University of Queensland’s athletes, Elise Hoyer, Katrina Schieber, Jessica Henshaw and Rebecca Pegg earned bronze medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 55.62 seconds.
Monash University’s side, Samantha Bennett, Melissa Murphy, Amanda Barnhoorn and Renee Campbell earned fourth place honours in the race with an impressive mark of 1 minute and 58.90 seconds. Bond University’s Laura Van, Bec Thompson, Amy Reid and Jade Neilsen
settled fifth in a time of 1 minute and 59.67 seconds, while Flinders University ended their swim sixth in a time of 2 minutes and 01.15 seconds.
Rmit University’s Alexandra Brown, Teagan Nugent, Claire Mccormack and Kelsey Huckin Mccloskey wound up seventh with a mark of 2 minutes and 02.92 seconds, whereas, University of Technology’s athletes, Rebecca Cahill, Caryn Streeter, Angela Chau and Stephanie
Purcell earned eighth place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 03.34 seconds.
La Trobe University of Australia wound up ninth in a time of 2 minutes and 13.83 seconds, while Australian National University settled tenth in 2 minutes and 15.50 seconds. Last, but not the least, University of Western Australia earned eleventh place honours
in the respective meet with a mark of 2 minutes and 19.25 seconds.
The top-three swimmers of the meet were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion, while the 2011 Australian University Games are set to conclude on September 30.
