I'm a high school senior getting ready for college applications and want to know which university has a better business program, UNF or UCF? I plan on double majoring in Finance and International Business, and have heard good and bad about both schools. Also, any info about campus life in general would be great. =) Thanks much!

  1. Both have very good business programs.

UNF is a smaller college with smaller classes.

UCF is a huge college, the second largest student population in the state.  Classes can be overcrowded.

Both have pretty new buildings with both campuses building a ton of new buildings over the past 10 years.

The choice is up to you on which school fits your personality the best.

For international business you might want to look into FSU or UMiami.

  2. Both are AACSB accredited, so you are in good shape there.  UNF is smaller.  UCF, is as mentioned, in Orlando.  That could mean some internship possibilities, but they would be more in the entertainment realm.

Which has a curriculum you like best?

Which community do you like best?

Which campus do you like better?  (it means visiting them both)

Check to see if either have rankings, but I am guessing neither do.  Rankings are important, but best fitting what you want to do is #1.

    Good luck whichever you choose!

  3. I have just started at UNF this summer, and I really like it.

The classes are small, the teachers are great, and the campus is really nice. Plus it's close to the beach (10 miles or so).

UCF is very large! It's a party school with tons of students. It's 16 miles from Orlando. I visited it because I got in, and chose not to go. I didn't like it.

  4. Either one is fine.  But I do know that Jacksonville is more business oriented than Orlando.  Orlando is too dependent on the tourist industry.  Bank of America has one of its computer systems campuses in Jacksonville, if banking is of interest to you.  Excellent company to get experience from, although they will be a challenge for you.  Modus has its headquarters in downtown Jacksonville.  They are the technical temp agency.  Back in 2002 I had a computer contract through them in Boston.  Don't know if they are international but wouldn't be surprised.

If you are going into International Business you should also consider graduate schools eventually.

    Good luck.

  5. I would recommend both of them. I think their programs are pretty comparable and your decision should probably come down to 2 things. The first being cost and the second being the location you wish to be in.
