University of Southern California men’s volleyball team lose to Hawaii by 3-2 on Friday
The University of Southern California men’s volleyball team had a match on Friday against the number eight ranking Hawaii.
As expected, the competition that ensued between the two teams was one that thrilled and entertained the spectators. The two teams took the match to five long sets and each one was fiercely fought. In the end, the team that bettered the other was that of
Hawaii. It was the second time this season that USC let any match slip out of their hands.
The match took place in Honolulu where a total of 3967 spectators witnessed the show. By the time the match reached its close, the score board showed final set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-20, 15-10, declaring Hawaii to be the victors in their home
court.
By losing the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match just recently, the Trojans are known carrying a total of 2 losses in the MPSF.
However, they have a lot of victories to boost of that total to be 17 in all. In the overall season, the Trojans have tallied wins that total to be 18. These victories have been accomplished against suffering losses that equal two.
Though both the overall season and the MPSF record of Hawaii falls pale in front that of USC, it still is something to be proud of. The number of wins that Hawaii has registered in this season so far total to be 15. These wins have been tallied against losses
that amount to the figure of 11. The MPSF statistics of Hawaii show wins that have reached the amount of 13. These wins have been accomplished after having undergone losses that amount to eight.
The first set of the match was all USC. They were able to take the lead early on at 3-1. Once they had the advantage, the Trojans were able to stretch it until 15-8. Thought Hawaii kept close all through, they were unable to push past. As a result, the Trojans
took the first set of the match at 25-22.
Hawaii was more competitive in the second set of the match. Until the middle of the game, both the teams struggled on to gain dominance of the court. The set was still tied at 17-17. After that point, Hawaii was able to pull ahead with a two-point lead which
eventually led them all the way to a second set win at 25-22.
The Trojans did not take losing the second set of the game well and fought with frenzy. Hawaii was smothered in the third set of the game by the Trojans as they bagged it at 25-15. However, Hawaii did not let go of the fourth and the fifth sets which they
won at 25-20 and 15-10 respectively.
Both the teams are scheduled to play against each other today and USC will have a chance to redeem themselves.
