University of manitoba, help?

hi im starting second year at Uof m, i've no idea what its like,,, anyone wanna make friends?

btw i'm coming from Toronto

I'm originally from Winnipeg, but I attended U of W and not U of M. I currently go to a university in another province. I know many people who have attended or currently attend U of M.

You may want to post this in the Winnipeg section or on a Winnipeg message board.

From what I hear, U of M is a diverse school. It is also somewhat of a "party school". ;) Especially if you are in Engineering. hehe...Those guys hold a drinking competition every year...or at least they did. U of M hosts lots of socials (been to a Faculty of Dentistry one) and social events. You may want to consider joining a Fraternity on campus. Although Frats are not a big thing here like they are in the States, the U of M does have a few. 3 in exact I believe.

My advice to you is to attend all social events for your Faculty, and join clubs and recreational sporting teams. Or try out for one of the Bison's teams if you are a great athlete. If you are academic, apply for research positions. Start study groups. Volunteer.

Most people who go to U of M are quite happy with the experience.

P.S. I will warn you...Winnipeg women in general seem to be very hot. Or we have greater numbers of attractive women. Not kidding. I believe it happens to be due to our mix of high Ukrainian/Scottish/Icelandic/German settlers. It's a nice mix. ;) In fact, Playboy has noted this. Playboy also named Grand Beach as one of the top beaches in the world. Grand Beach is just outside of Winnipeg.

That said, we also have our fair share of snotty "entitled" women. Like any city, but I notice this is Winnipeg more. Don't worry, most Winnipeg girls are not like that. But there are some. The key is to give them a taste of their own medicine. Ignore them. Be friendly to everyone *but* them. For some reason, that seems to draw these women in like flies to honey. I guess we all want what we can't have, right? ;)

Hopefully you will meet the hot *friendly* women. And yes, there are lots of those too!

Now, I assume you're straight. But 10% of the population is not. So if you happen to be in that 10%, Winnipeg has a vibrant g*y scene too. Check out Osbourne Village and Gio's nightclub.
