  1. The University of Tennesse has a very respectable football team and perhaps the most storied and respected woman's basketball program in the nation. The Volunteers won the NCAA national title for football in 1998 and were in the SEC championship game as recently as last season, where they lost a close game to LSU. Year and and year out, Tennessee is in the hunt for the division title.

  2. Uh...Yeah...Its a fairly big football school...in the Southeastern Conference, often regarded as the toughest football conference in the country...Also...lots of players went on to the NFL, like late HOFer Reggie White, Peyton Manning, Donte Stallworth, etc...

  3. University of Tennessee is very rich in football tradition and even if they weren't that good of a football school the very mere fact of being able to play at a Division 1 (Bowl sub-division now) school should make a big deal for your friend and you as well, but to answer your question Tennessee built it's athletics around football (and later women's basketball) just look at what the school has done since 1998 (the year it won it's last national championship) they have won their division and played for the conference title 4 times (in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2007 real good since it is the best football conference in the land) and have played in a bowl game every year expect 2003 (going 4-5 not to good but hey it's a bowl game).  Tradition wise they have played in the second most bowl games in college football history (48 total with a record of 26-22) and have won a total of 6 (with 4 being recognized by the NCAA) national titles (there is a big dispute amongst all colleges about national championships this is why the BCS was created)

  4. UT football is one of the biggest things in East Tennessee, it is crazy how hyped up everybody around here gets when they are playing, and going to a game is awesome experience. But they are a big football school and are ranked 18 but i don't think they will be as good as there preseason ranking because the sec is a tough confrence.

  5. Yes the Volunteers have a prestigious football history, they have won 6 national championships

Famous Alumni: Peyton Manning, Jason Witten, Reggie White, Donte Stallworth, Peerless Price, Jerod Mayo, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Albert Haynesworth, Deon Grant-----all stars in the NFL or past (Reggie White)

There's alot more info here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee_v...

  6. Traditionally they have been better at basketball and they are still solid in basketball but currently their team this year is very talented and they were very good last year.  Their biggest problem is their conference is the best so they have to play a lot of hard teams.  The odds are that they will lose 2 or 3 conference games to (I don't know their schedule ) possibly LSU, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, or South Carolina.  If they end up with just one or 2 losses they could end up playing for the national championship.

  7. UT is in the best football conference in America, the Southeastern Conference.  It has a very rich football tradition and if offered a scholarship to play, your friend must be a good player.  I am a fan of a rival team so I will have to leave the trash talk alone, but I will give respect when its due, and UT is a top program.

  8. The Vols have always been a great football team. Tough and resourceful able to battle back from any point deficit. Also they are a SEC team. Everyone knows any team in the SEC is dangerous. Even the referees have to be tough and throw a blow in there every once and awhile. It takes a special individual to play in the SEC because football was born in the south and is the blood of the south. The Vols are highly respected team and have been known to give even the super fast Florida teams a run for every yard. So yes..The Vols are a very good team.

  9. They are  very good team

  10. Um yea that is a big deal they rock

  11. Tennessee is horrible.  Their coach is a big fat slob.  They should give up football.

Just kidding.  Tennessee is a very good football team.  They were national champions in 1998.  They have a very large fan base.
