University selection with poor GRE score.

Hi,

I am a student of IITB in the department of Aerospace Engineering. My CGPA is good. I am topper of our department. But Score in vocabulary test of GRE becomes bad (390). So my total score becomes, 1190. I have also published 3 journal papers. So can ny one tall me that in which American Universities I can get full scholarship for doing MS, in aerospace.

  1. Some universities will accept you with that low a verbal GRE. But they'll require you to take the TOEFL, and I'm not sure how well you'll do on that. It may be worth your effort to find an American university that offers advanced level English as a Foreign Language classes for incoming graduate students, and who will admit you despite your low verbal scores, but place you in those classes so you can bring your English up to the level required by the graduate program. Embry Riddle, in Florida, has such a program. They have an English Language Institute, and they do offer scholarships to international students. They also don't require the GRE, but if you submit it, they'll love your quant score. I'd have you start with Embry Riddle:

    At any university you look at, ask them if you can apply for scholarships, but also for teaching or research assistantships. Those can give you a partial or full tuition waiver in exchange for the work you do for the university.  


  2. You can also take a course to learn how to improve your GRE score and then retake the exam.
