I am looking for information on universities in canad athat offer a program for equine sciences/studies type programs with an on campus or near campus stable. I know of Olds Colledge, U of Guelph, and Fairview colledge. I just want to know how good the coursesand people are or whatever you can tell me. I will take any suggestions for U.S. Schools too.

  1. I only know of a few U.S Schools.

The University of Findlay in Ohio-don't know much about it, except it's private so a bit more expensive.

University of Wisconsin-River Falls-I'm a student here for Equine Management.

They have an IHSA English Riding Team and Western Team.  They also have the Rodeo Team for any Barrel Racers.  The Stable is within walking distance from the campus but is only used to house the school horses and colts that they use for the training classes.  There are other stable within a few miles for anyone interested in bringing their horse with them.

  2. William Woods University in Missouri(US) is supposed to have a really good program. They compete in several local and national shows every year.

  3. I know a great website: http://www.horseschools.com/rankings.asp

It lists schools by all sorts of different things, such as horses per student etc.

I know that Fresno State University in CA has an Equine Science degree.

I am attending California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, and we have an Animal Science major with an option to minor in Equine Science. We also have an equestrian team with english and western, a rodeo team, and a dressage team. We compete against schools like Stanford, UC Davis, Fresno state etc.

    Good luck!

  4. If you want to have a helpful guide that i buy every year is the horse schools book.It you can buy it at like Barnes and noble and it has the schools listed in order by state then it gives a description of each school. They have a new book thats came out last year and its the 3rd edition. The link to the books so you can see it is here:

Also in the books it tells the aprox. cost of the schools tution.  Also it tells what the degree is in and if they have a show team.  It is a really helpuf book

I hope that helps. Even if you just go into the store and copy the names then go home and google it that helps. I hope that helps you out a little

  5. Mississippi State University

"A student may pursue one of the two options within the Animal and Dairy Science major (Science or Production/Business Management). For students selecting the Production/Business Management option, one of the three species emphasis must be selected (Meat Animal, Dairy, or Equine)."

The trainer I hired for my horses came from them.
