Unknown pin code for Mobile Phone.

Question

Hello, I have a Samsung SGH-E250 which I found but have no way of getting any details from it in the hopes of finding the owner ... no home phone number or parent contact at all. The brandtype of mobile I found by taking the battery out and also noticed it has a Virgin sim card. The mobile phone still has charge but not for much longer and two attempts have already been used to try and unlock it. I'm already aware of the safety advantages of making it impossible to access ones mobile as I have the very same precautions in place with my own.
I also realize I could hand it in to the local police station but I seriously doubt it's from somebody local as it was at the bus stop - I've already checked with the local school bus students but lucked out here too. It's too nice a phone to be thrown away and I am sure the original owner would be happy for it's return.
