Question:

Unknown presence in my home is getting worse- how do I stop it ?

Starting about a year or so after I bought my home there were little things like 'thinking' I may have saw something. A few years ago I was cleaning off the kitchen table and saw/felt an arm wrap around me - there was nobody else in the house at the time. The 'visions' are more and more frequent and now there's voices, noises & movement. A few months back my daughter opened the attic door and a male voice told her to 'close the door'...there were no males home at the time. A week ago my other daughter came flying up from her room screaming hysterically-she was at her pc and suddenly could not move her chair and a male voice called her name . Just last night my son came running from his room crying- he was lying in bed and heard the noise of a poster being rustled on his wall as though something was trying to peel it off. My girls hear sounds of someone running through the hallway latenight -everyone in that area is asleep. The list goes on and it's getting worse-how do I stop it ?

  1. at  3am turn out the lights

stand where you hear the sounds..

place a container in the middle of the room

make a circle of salt Large circle

and then  another circle, close to the 1st cirlce, just the wide enough so you can stand in this 2nd circle, pour salt at your front and back doors or any entrance..

then walk thru with desert sage

    then some incense

then put a little salt in a container of water, bless the water first

walk thru your house sprinkling a little of it everywhere

then stand in the second ring after being still for abit and call to it and ask it to leave in a very demanding tone

Tell it to go to the LIGHT NOW,

Tell it its family is here to take it to the light repeat till you have a sense of it leaving.

make sure never step into the first ring

and discard the container in the middlle asap in outside trash

sweep up salt and palce in outside trash.

make sure you buy a fresh container of salt for this

    Good Luck

  2. There is no stopping it, it will get worse and worse. Move out as fast as you can.

  3. Wow! Somebody's been reading too many horror novels at bedtime!

I was going to write an entire dissertation on the silliness of believing in the paranormal, but then . . . just as I was typing the response into my computer, I felt something behind me, but there was nothing there! The something felt as if it were growing stronger and stronger, but there was even more nothing there! I heard a voice scream, so I shut off the TV, and, mysteriously, the voice vanished! When I tried to get off my chair, the wheels got stuck in the carpet, but I know it was the unseen nothing that caused it! Suddenly, ghosts grabbed me, and flew me away, and I was never heard from again! But, at least it's over now!

  4. 1. Check for physical human beings in the house (i.e. intruders).

    2. Human imagination is a powerful thing, especially in children. Teach your children to control it and not let it control them. Allowing children to believe that ghosts exist is the worst thing you could do.

    3. Consider a psychiatric evaluation. You and your children may be somehow genetically predisposed to hallucinations and/or seizures.

  5. put salt around the outside of your house & burn some sage inside & tell whatever it is that it is dead & to go to the light.

  6. Contact a reputable group of paranormal invetigstors for help. I wouldn't do anything unless I knew what I was doing.

What could it hurt? You believe in what you've experienced and so does your children.

  7. Try telling them they are dead and need to pass on. Use salt sprinkle salt around your house. You can also try to find out why they are there and maybe then u can help them to pass on. They don't seem to be trying to hurt you or your family, maybe they are trying to communicate to you. If you are really afraid try the salt around the corners of the rooms and tell them the only way you can help them is to help them cross over.

  8. Speak to the ghost, out loud. Shout, if you feel you must. Explain to your ghost that you live there now and he/she is doing things that bother you. Explain exactly what those things are. Ask the ghost to stop immediately. If you want the ghost to leave altogether, you need to say that.

This usually works. However, some ghosts won't take you seriously, and you may need to remind it to leave you alone several times before it stays away.

Holy Water is another tried-and-true remedy for ghosts.

Respectfully and quietly enter your nearest Catholic Church, carrying a small jar or bottle from home. Somewhere in the public area, there will be a large container of Holy Water, usually stainless steel with a cross and a spigot on it.

Fill your container with Holy Water. It's nice to leave a small donation for this, too. (A dollar or two is customary.)

Upon returning home, pour a liberal amount of the water into a small bowl. Dip your fingers into the water, and stand in any doorway in the house.

Make a broad Sign of the Cross in the doorway, allowing the water to fly off your fingers as you gesture. (If you don't know how to make a Sign of the Cross, ask any Catholic.)

It can be helpful to add an out-loud prayer, such as "I bless this house in the name of Jesus," or, "I banish all evil spirits from this home, in the name of God," or something like that.

(If you feel silly saying this, and can't help laughing as you do it, don't do it. This is not a light or casual ritual.)

Do this in every doorway, interior and exterior. Also do this at every window; don't forget the attic and the basement.

    Prayer and religion

Your ancestors, deities, and saints are in the spirit world, as your ghost is. It's logical to ask the help of these friendly spirits.

If you have a shrine--formal or informal (such as a display of photos)--to your ancestors, have a chat with your favorite deceased ancestor. Explain the situation to him/her, and ask for help.

If you're very upset about your ghost, we recommend the Irish saint, St. Dymphna, who is the patron saint of mental health. She's great for calming situations. We save St. Jude for extreme situations when all else has failed. He's busy enough with others' urgent requests.

Pagans may want to use a banishing ritual, unless the idea bothers you, of course.

    Garlic

Don't laugh! Garlic is a tried-and-true repellant for unpleasant spirits of all kinds. Hang one clove (not an entire bulb) in each doorway and window where you need protection. A clove in your pocket is a good idea, too.

If you believe in folk magick, you can create a small pouch with several protection herbs in it, including five-finger grass, cinnamon, and echinacea. However, don't overdo this. The point is to repel ghosts, not drive everyone away from you! *grin*

Along the same lines, hematite is a folk remedy too. Wearing it, or even carrying a piece of this unusually heavy black stone, will--according to legend--absorb evil energy. This won't get rid of the ghost, just the negative effects of it.

    The shoe remedy

This one sounds silly but gets great results among our readers: When you go to bed at night, set out the shoes you'll wear in the morning. Place them at the foot of your bed, on the floor, with one shoe pointing one way, and the other shoe pointing the opposite way.

According to folklore, the ghosts get so confused by this, they leave after a few nights.

(If you like this one, scroll down to see the sand remedy.)

    Incense and space clearing

Some professionals use sage incense, sometimes called "smudge sticks" at the health food store. We favor Nag Champa, but a nice apple pie or vanilla scented incense may be more suitable.

Light the incense and carry it around, making certain that you get the smoke everywhere, particularly inside closets, room corners (use a sturdy chair or ladder for uppermost corners), attics, basements, and so on.

Or, you can ring a bell in every corner, and in every room. Or clap your hands.

There are books specifically explaining a variety of space-clearing techniques.

However, the whole idea is to get the air moving in stale corners where ghosts may be hiding.

  9. You're scaring your kids.Really, what you're doing is not right. Watch what you say around them.

  10. you know, when that type of stuff was happening in my house, i called a ghost investigating group with a good reputation.  they certainly confirmed the presense of the paranormal in my home.  then we worked on expelling those entities that were of a negative or lower level.  it is an ongoing story.  call a college in your area that has a parapsychology courses and talk to the head of the dept.  see what he/she has to say and what recomendations seem good to you.

  11. How do you stop it? Kym, I'm afraid you're the one who created this problem. It sounds like your active imagination and perhaps a minor hallucination compelled you to think you were being haunted. Now that you've told your children, who are VERY open to suggestion and have wild imaginations of their own, this belief has taken off and has taken over your family. The good news is that you're just dealing with the power of suggestion. The bad news is that it's hard to reverse the conditioning you've already imposed on your children.

My suggestion is to immediately drop this nonsense about a ghost or "presence", tell your children you were mistaken, and consult a child psychologist on how to reverse the potential damage that may have been done.
