Question:

Unknown tiny creatures in my pond, can anyone identify?

They don't seem to be a problem but I'm curious. I don't think they are actually a creature but the skin shed from a creature? They are about 0.4cm long, straight, transparent with a Grey tinge, and have a little tufty bit one end which is white, and two the other end which are the same colour. There seems to be many of them just floating around, they're not active.

Anyone have any clues?

  1. Humm maybe its just something that the wind blew off a nearby tree. Pollen maybe? Is it mosquito larvae?


  2. They sound like the casing from the Mosquito after hatching, here is a photo of the larvae.

  3. i would say, judging by the 3 tufts, its probably the skins shed from mayfly larvae
