is there still "leaded gas"? i know regular and premium gas but never seen leaded gas at the gas station?

if "leaded" means diesel, why not all car marks "no diesel" instead of "unleaded only"?

  1. Leaded gas was used way back to provide better performance and allow high compression ratios.  While it has been banned from being sold in auto gas stations there is still a widely used form of leaded gasoline produced called Avgas.  Several varieties of small airplanes depend upon it.

  2. Years ago (over 20), it was decided that the lead in gas was dangerous to the environment. That means all living things.

It is not burned up with the gas, but left in the air for us to breath! It was and is outlawed in the USA!

Cars actually run better with it but not us!

Diesel is not the same as leaded gas. Diesel is less refined than gas and engines must be specially designed to use it.

The "unleaded only" signs were initiated when we switched to un-leaded gas and are just a carry over from those days..

  3. No.  No more leaded gas.

Diesel is NOT gasoline.  Leaded gasoline IS gasoline.  YOu cannot get leaded gasoline ANYMORE.  It was outlawed many moons ago - for cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc..

They still sell leaded gasoline for SMALL planes.

    Good Luck...

P.S.  so you are correct, we should just call them just gasoline.
