Question:

Unlock audiobooks in iTunes? MPG4 files?

I've downloaded 4 audiobooks, and put them into itunes with no problem, synced them and its fine, but the files themselves are locked. On the icon of the file itself has a tiny padlock on it, and this means I cannot rename the file, change its category or select certain settings like volume and remember playback position.

How can I unlock the files so i can modify them in itunes?

  2. these are protected files!

you're not supposed to be able to alter them.

NEVER EVER modify ore remove anything in your itunes folder let itunes do it for you otherwise you risk losing  songs etc.

in the prefs ensure 'let itunes manage my music' IS selected and from advanced menu occasionally select consolidate my library.

although the file is a locked MP4A file you can in ITUNES select the file and from the get info you can modify the text info and if you're online itunes will have access to the protection key to alter these!

NEVER try and alter these yourself outside itunes otherwise you can ruin the file or its linking to the itunes library and lose it!
