Unlocking Blackberry Curve?

Question

I have a chance to get a blackberry curve that's with AT&T...the problem is that i'm a T-Mobile customer. How can I find out whether I can use the phone or not? Can I just put in my SIM and see if it works? And if it's locked will T-Mobile unlock it for me? Also if it can be unlocked, will all the features work correctly or will I have to have it debranded too? I'm so confused. :)
