Unlocking Samsung A737?

Question

I recently got a new contract with AT&T, and received a discount phone. I want to unlock the phone, and have heard that if you call and tell AT&T that you are going abroad, they will unlock it for you. I was just wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to do this even though the phone is so new.
