Unlocking lg u300

Question

i really need someone's help, ive recently moved to canada and was told by my phone company in australia that my LG U300 would be able to be unlocked if i decided to change networks however they are now saying they can't do it! can any one help with unlock codes or something to unlock it with. im a bit poor so any free solutions would be really appreciated!! thanks heaps in advance
