Uno the card game.?

Question

so tonight i was playing uno and we got into this argument and i was wondering if anyone could solve it for me. (any online references would be AMAZING). My friend was getting ready to play her card and had not said uno even though i had one card left. She was the first person to go after me and she had not played her card but she called me for not saying uno. I said it before she layed her card down. she said i still had to pick up extra carads. now i had always played you had until the next person played their card to say it. is this true?

by the way the dispute got very ugly and there was lots of "fun-loving" yelling. so it would be awesome if you could give me your input and references again are more than welcome.

I don't think it's fair that you have to draw extra cards even though you havn't said uno.

Its not really fair for your friend, coz if she does not stop you, she might not be up her guard and play off-handedly, thus giving you a good card to finish off. Therefore, you should have said it immediately after you placed down your second-last card. Too bad...

From the way I have always played Uno, from the time you have laid down your card to the time that the next person takes there turn, anyone can call you out on not saying Uno. If the next player has not taken there turn yet, then they can get you for not saying Uno.

i ahve played that you say uno just before each person puts their card down. so you have one card left and its player b's turn just before she puts a card down you have to say uno!
