  1. Go for it! You dont necessarily need a camp to make the team. Yes they are expensive, but it is worth it. If you cannot afford it, but still wanna do something to get better, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! You can have someone in your family stand about 30 ft. in front of you. Get in your position to pass. which is bending down, not bending at your back, but your legs and butt. hold your arms out at 90 degrees in front of you. Have your family member toss you the ball, have them hold their hands at their forehead. this is your goal; to get the ball right on the head of you setter (family member). This is a fun one! Have a family member stand in front of you. they have the ball. you stand about 30 ft back. have them toss the ball about 10ft in front of you. the point is to run to the ball and get around it. never pass outside of your shoulders which is swinging your arms. have them toss it and you have to run to it, with your arms out, but spread your arms at the last minute right before you would pass it, if the ball goes between your legs without hitting you, then you succeed. Coaches also look for a good attitude all the time. You have to really want this, and never get down on yourself. Forget about the mistakes you make, just do it again and make it better. Running helps. Not as much long distance, but sprinting. This will teach you to get to the ball faster and to get around it. just the basics; passing, serving, and hitting. Have fun and GOOD LUCK!

  2. well all you can do is try out!! and yes high school sports are very competetive... the high school i went to were state chams the other year!! if they have a freshman A and B team you will most likely make B team if youve never played before!!

  3. im surprised they told you that in 8th grade. go for it. see if there are any open gyms! open gyms help alot. and try to find a less expensive clinic or camp. if not find someone who plays vball and pepper with them and do some drills & get in shape!
